《세화 컬렉션: 새로운 세계를 향한 이정표》는 국내에서 보기 힘든 야요이 쿠사마의 특별한 작품을 만나는 기회입니다.
세화미술관 소장품 〈새로운 세계를 향한 이정표〉(2016)는 빨간 물방울 모양의 여러 조각이 모여 하나를 이룹니다. 쿠사마의 트레이드 마크 중 하나인 점(dot) 무늬를 입은 이 작품은 붉은 색채와 하얀 패턴이 돋보입니다. 반짝거리는 사탕처럼 칠해진 조각품은 곡선의 아름다운 형태를 간직하는 한편, 하나하나의 물방울 조각은 서로가 모여들면서 미지로 향하는 길을 안내하는 듯합니다. 쿠사마의 대형 설치 작업은 각 조각이 펼쳐진 공간과 환경 속으로 사람들을 끌어당깁니다.
《Sehwa Collection: Guidepost to the New World》 presents a rare opportunity to experience an exceptional work by Yayoi Kusama, rarely exhibited in Korea.
The Sehwa Museum’s collection ‹Guidepost to the New World>(2016) consists of numerous red, droplet-shaped forms that come together as a unified structure. Adorned with the dot motif—one of Yayoi Kusama’s signature visual languages—the work is distinguished by its vivid red surface and contrasting white patterns. The sculpture’s glossy finish evokes the appearance of shimmering candy, while its sinuous, curvilinear forms emphasize a sense of organic beauty. Individually, each droplet appears to converge with the others, collectively suggesting a pathway that gestures toward the unknown. Kusama’s large-scale installations invite viewers to enter and engage with the spatial and environmental dimensions shaped by the unfolding of each element.
